Vitamin D (a group of vitamins)

There’s been much mention of this vitamin recently and its health benefits. One thing we do know, however, is that Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium, magnesium and phosphate which can help for maintaining healthy bones, teeth, muscles and for good overall health.

Apart from, sufficient sunlight exposure, and vitamin supplements, vitamin D can be found in:

  • Fortified Foods - breakfast cereals
  • Fatty Fish, Sardines, Salmon, Trout, Kipper
  • Egg Yolk, meat and milk (smaller amounts)
  • Mushrooms

Vitamin D type foods may not feature on our shopping lists too frequently. Though it could be a question of experimenting with new food and recipes and thinking about how we can incorporate healthier foods into our day-to-day lives. The key is adding new ingredients and new delicious recipes often to keep us motivated to eat well. Keep a look out for more of our blog posts with more tasty and healthy recipes!
